It is not enough to tweet about Trayvon Martin. It’s not enough to click ‘like’ on someone’s post. Not anymore. We have to do more, now. Get mad. Get focused. Write your congressman, email the Governor of Florida, sign the petition. Do something. Letting other people take the lead isn’t going to be enough. Email CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and your local news affiliates, make them feel the pressure. Trayvon should be the lead story every night until Zimmerman is behind bars.
Be sure, this isn’t just a Black problem. This is a problem for all of us. It is a problem when a man can hunt a boy down and shoot him because he decided the boy was a threat. Trayvon was murdered, very simply because of the color of his skin and for no other reason. Zimmerman is free because he murdered a Black boy. I positively guarantee he would not be free if the boy was white. Hard to admit for some but it is the truth and it should piss you off. Don’t let this be ‘not your problem’. Make it your problem. Get mad because it’s wrong. Get mad because you care about me and I’m mad. Do something… PLEASE.
